We provide ongoing strategic programme development and communications advice to the Sustainable Energy Authority Ireland (SEAI), to support the objectives of the Sustainable Energy Community (SEC) Network.

Established in 2016, the SEC Network now has over 130 members, with groups in every county in Ireland. Working with SEAI, we provide strategic advice, communications, and development support to the growth and implementation of the SEC Network and partnerships programmes.

Prior to the development of the SEC Network, in 2015 we carried out an in-depth survey of over 30 SEC Project Co-ordinators to measure project impacts, opportunities, and barriers to inform future support requirements, and prepared a detailed report and presentation of the findings. We facilitated stakeholder workshops with SEAI and key SEC partners, and for the SEC Network launch we helped devise the application process, core competencies and skills required for a successful SEC. With SEAI, we co-produced a short animation which tells the story of the SEC journey and was launched at the Energy Show 2015.

We provide communications and strategic support to SEAI to enable the effective roll-out of the SEC Network nationally; acting as client representatives; articulating a vision and strategy for the SEC Network; stakeholder engagement; development of bespoke tools and supports to enable effective action within SECs; and advising on the delivery of objectives with diverse stakeholders to address key issues in the wider energy policy and strategy context.

We helped develop the structure, application process and associated resources for the SEC Partnership Programme, including the application handbook, mapping and a wide range of workshop materials in addition to a toolkit of technical resources.

We redefined the problem statement to explore and develop creative solutions in a collaborative manner with key public and private sector stakeholders and homeowners, to identify how best to realise more sustainable energy retrofits of existing homes in Ireland – read more about this project here.
