During times of adversity, we see society’s response to immediate problems through innovative and responsive solutions. At M.CO, we take pride in combining creativity and pragmatism. We have put together a collection of projects and inspiration to highlight some of the human responses to Covid-19.

Listed below are some clever stories and activities to keep us connected through thinking and doing. This is a living article and will be updated weekly.

Our friends in An Post have introduced a ‘Request a Check-In’ facility for family members to request a specific ‘An Post Check-In’ by the local postman or postwoman for an older or vulnerable person during the current ‘Cocooning’ period:

The HSE has created a COVID-19 Clinical Guidance and Evidence Repository to assist with efforts in providing nationally consistent advice to the clinical community in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The clinical guidance is iterative in nature and updates are uploaded to the website daily.

During COVID-19 businesses are adapting to survive and this is particular challenging for small/rural businesses. 25-year old Blacksmith Conor Murray is now using his traditional skills to make protective screens for smaller shops and retailers that have not been catered for. Read his story of how we adapted his business to meet his community’s needs.

States of Change are hosting a weekly conversation asking interesting questions about the crisis we face. Past discussions include citizen engagement, altering social contracts, the type of leadership needed during the pandemic and how services need to evolve and adapt during uncertain times.

Despite the challenges presented by the COVID-19 restrictions, high standards of care are still being delivered to women and new-borns through innovations in midwifery practices. Watch this short film from the Dublin Midlands Hospital Group on how they have evolved their services resulting in better patient flow, patient care, teamwork, communication and decision making as well as reduced risk of exposure to COVID19 for mothers and babies.

Creatives Against Covid-19 called on the creative industry to design and donate inspiring posters to raise funds for vulnerable women and children during the current crisis. The result? Over 1,000 posters, from over 30 countries, were designed and submitted within 7 days. All proceeds will be donated equally between ISPCC Childline and Women’s Aid.
